  8. Trekkie is a database, that offers the possibility to manage all the
  9. Star Trek episodes.
  10. Apart from collecting the usual data such as Episodetitle, -number, Stardate
  11. and so on, it facilitates to build a kind of "Who is Who" by managing
  12. the "Maker"-information.
  13. Moreover there is a - admittedly simple - video database included.

  15. The program requires Kickstart/Workbench 3.0. To use the included
  16. datafile you must have a little more than 1.5MB free memory. 
  17. Running it on a 68000 machine would probably have been a strain
  18. on nerves an coffee consum, that's why it requires at least an 68020 
  19. processor.

  62. The program should hopefully be self-explaining, however here are some
  63. important things:

  65. - Before starting Trekkie you should copy the trekkie.font to your FONTS: 
  66.   drawer.

  68. - The Preferences are stored in the icon's tooltypes:
  69.

  72.   Defines the Screenmode. No matter how small the selected screen is,
  73.   Trekkie opens a screen of at least 640x410 pixels. If the tooltype is
  74.   not specified the program uses an EURO72 Productivity Screen.
  75.   Valid values are:
  76.     Euro72       :  opens a Euro 72 Productivity Screen
  77.     VGA          :  opens a Multiscan Productivity Screen
  78.     PAL          :  opens a PAL Interlace Screen
  79.     PAL NONLACE  :  opens a Pal HighRes (Autoscroll) Screen
  80.     NTSC         :  opens a NTSC Interlace Screen
  81.     NTSC NONLACE :  opens a NTSC HighRes (Autoscroll) Screen
  82.     DBLPAL       :  opens a DBLPAL flickerfree Screen
  83.     DBLNTSC      :  opens a DBLNTSC flickerfree Screen
  84.     $modeID      :  for modeID put the hexadecimal ID of any screenmode.

  88.   Specifies filename and path, of the data file loaded on startup.

  92.   Specifies path, filename and possible parameters of the external picture
  93.   view program.

  96. - The value for Rating can range from 0 to 99. Personally I use a range
  97.   of 1 (extremely bad) to 18 (extremely good). That way the 0 remains
  98.   reserved for entries, that have not yet been rated.

  100. - The settings for Selection-, Sort- and Listpattern can be saved.
  101.   If default.??? is specified as filename (default.sel for selection
  102.   pattern, default.srt for sort pattern, default.msk for list pattern)
  103.   the corresponding settings are loaded as default on startup.
  104.   Specifying f1.???, f2.???, f3.??? and so on makes it possible
  105.   to easily load these settings by pressing the corresponding
  106.   F-key in list- or editmode. 
  107.   All these settings can be saved at once. The appropriate name
  108.   extensions are automatically added. To save the current settings
  109.   as default you just have to enter "default" as filename.
